This photo shows the "X-frame"
which adds a lot of stability to the chair. The two
pieces of the x frame are notched to fit together.
This is called a half-lap. The X-frame creates a sturdy
connection between the backrest and the frame of the
chair and keeps every thing from wiggling or loosening
up.
