1. How does Olympic Maximum Waterproofing Sealant differ from ordinary water sealants?
The Olympic formulation shields wood from damaging UV rays and helps prevent the growth of unsightly mildew and algae growth on the sealant surface. All-purpose waterproofing sealants typically have no mildew nor algae protection, and no protection from UV damage. A special blend of resins holds together advanced additives for long lasting performance. In all-purpose products, the resin system must be suitable for use over a number of surfaces. They are not the best choice for wood substrates.

2. What are the proper surface preparation and application procedures?
Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of mildew, dirt, dust, oil, soot, or other contaminants. Clean weathered, dirtied, mildewed surfaces with Olympic Deck Cleaner before application of Olympic Maximum Waterproofing Sealant. On previously coated surfaces, all of the coating must be completely removed, and the surface sanded smooth prior to application of this product. Thoroughly coat the ends and edges of the boards. To help avoid lap marks, only apply to a few boards at a time, working from side to side, or top to bottom keeping the leading edge wet. Spray application with an Olympic Premium Deck Care Sprayer must be followed with back-brushing while the coating is still wet to ensure maximum penetration and uniformity of appearance and durability. A sample brushout is always recommended to determine the actual appearance.

3. Which of natures elements does the product protect against?
Olympic Maximum Waterproofing Sealant waterproofs your wood, protecting it from rain, snow, and hail. It Exceeds the Federal Specification for water repellency (TT-W-572B) and protects against cracking, splitting and warping for a minimum of two years. Olympic Maximum Waterproofing Sealant provides our maximum protection from both mildew and algae growth on the coating film. It contains a blend of U.V. light stabilizers that absorb the suns damaging rays, helping to prevent graying for a minimum of 2 years. The U.V. light stabilizers also protect the waterproofing properties of the product which, in turn, helps to extend the protection from water damage.

4. How many coats are recommended for maximum protection?
Only one coat of Olympic Maximum Waterproofing Sealant is required to protect the substrate.

5. Can Olympic Maximum Waterproofing Sealant be applied over Semi-transparent or Solid Color Deck Stain?
Olympic Maximum Waterproofing Sealant is recommended for use on new or weathered wood surfaces. On previously coated surfaces all of the coating must be completely removed, and the surface sanded smooth prior to application of Olympic Maximum Waterproofing Sealant.
