This photo shows the marine stainless steel hinges, the hydraulic piston with stainless steel brackets, the louvers and the ropes. Also notice the box bottom boards are spaced for ventilation.

The piston keeps the lid from slamming shut. The lid is in perfect balance with the piston and closes ever so softly.
